Pharmacognosy

The department has initiated research on extraction, isolation and purification and biological evaluation of phyto-chemical. In the area of research, department is involved in isolation of phyto-constituents, its purification, and evaluation. A well maintained Medicinal garden serves as a botanical source.

In the department of Pharmacognosy, herbal and poly herbal formulations were formulated and evaluated for their antidiabetic, antioxidant, antifungal, hepatoprotective activities etc. through inter departmental collaboration. The department has experienced and highly qualified faculty members who have been exposed to collaboration with institutions, industries and having national and international publications.

Medicinal Garden

The medicinal garden has all types of plants viz., herbs, shrubs, climbers, trees etc. The numbers of the plants are sufficient according to the requirement, plant density is proper and the overall ambience of the garden gives an impression of permanent arrangement.
